Pink Flamingo Treasure, Day 120

The end to a somewhat grueling school year is finally in sight. My daughter was in most weekends because of the inordinate amount of homework she is assigned - dealing with AP History in and of itself is unbelievable - she has at least 4 hours of homework each night for this subject alone, in addition to the six other classes she carries. Another tough class is physics. Her teacher (the same one for the egg drop photo I took a few months back) gives one sticker a year out to any students who score three 100's in a row on their tests. This sticker is a pink flamingo and my daughter so wanted a pink flamingo sticker - can you believe that???? A stupid sticker....

Anyway, she brought this home today... If only our kids were that easy to please every day! I'd buy stock in pink flamingo stickers!!!

Zoom Lenses Are Great, Day 119

It's fun having musically-inclined kids. My daughter received a sticky G clef as a gift for Christmas and promptly stuck it to her bedroom window. With my zoom lens, I was able to shoot this picture from our driveway and catch the sun reflecting off of the glass beads.

Lunch At Applebees, Day 118

My husband and I went out to lunch the other day. I looked up above my head. I had my camera with me. This is what I saw.

How's This For A Sugar High, Day 117

At least if you are only looking at this photo, you don't run any risk of packing on the pounds......

I'm A Slackard, Day 113 and 114

The last two days have been a blur. Good things and sad things, but I did take pictures and, once again, I am combining two days of photos.

First meeting of new pup and Freckles - It went pretty well, I think.

Beautiful flowers on prom night.

The Ring, Day 112

Here is a close-up of the ring I mentioned in yesterday's post. Please note, because she is a music student, she was able to get a G clef inscription on the side of her ring. The kids can customize their rings to match their interests in school.

Lucy, I hope that helps a little bit!

Class Ring Celebration, Day 111

This picture is not the clearest, but conditions were a bit suboptimal - the cafeteria at school. Tonight, the class of 2010 celebrated the receiving of their long-awaited class rings. This particular group of kids has been in school together since kindergarten. See the shorter guy in the middle? Back in April 2001, he was diagnosed with spinal cord cancer and was given 18-24 months max to live - by my calendar that was EIGHT YEARS AGO. There were several times we thought he would be lost, but each time he came back to us.

His oncologist back then prayed she would get to see him graduate from high school and I have a sneaky suspicion that that particular prayer will be answered.

Smart Car, Day 110

We pulled into a gas station next to this car. I had to get a pic as these cars just fascinate me. As I began to lift my camera, and our car moved forward, the driver of the Smart Car looked back at me - I was sunk - I couldn't very well point my camera straight at her while she was looking back at me. I was bummed. But then she got out to use the restroom. If you look in the background, you'll see her going in! I lucked out and got my picture. These cars get something like 69 miles to the gallon on the highway. Pretty impressive, I think.

Old Car, Day 109

On our road trip yesterday, we were stopped at a traffic light and my husband noticed this car and thought it might be a good idea for a photo! Of course I agreed and then explained to him about one of our fellow photo bloggers (John) who has been taking really cool pictures of very old cars.

John, you inspired me!

An Eggstonishing Day, Day 108

What a day, seven hours in the car! The picture doesn't fit totally with our day but it's a cool egg my son made for Easter and our day was somewhat exciting so I thought, what the heck.

To find out what was so great about my day, please visit my regular blog. I promise, I've kept it short and sweet!

Hyacinth With Droplets, Day 107

Several weeks ago I posted my hyacinth just emerging through the ground. Here it is after a downpour!

Why Do I Even Bother, Day 106

Any editing whizzes out there who can tell/show me how to make this into a lovely photo of my boy smiling sweetly as I point my camera in his direction?? I'll take any and all suggestions!

This was to be a perfect capture of my son at brunch on Easter morning but obviously you can see he ruined the moment, and then I shot a blurry picture.

Now, does everybody see what I'm up against???

Memories of "Wilson", Day 105

I was trying to sneakily take photos of my son in the seat behind me on Sunday. I'll probably post one of them this week. Anyway, I got this one of myself while fooling with the camera/mirror and it reminded me of Tim Allen's neighbor on Home Improvement - remember Wilson?

Please note, I do not have prescription sunglasses so I always wear my cheap $5 sunglasses over my $500 prescription glasses - looks nerdy but who cares! It works, except I had flipped them up quickly so I could see the settings on my camera, thus the "layered look".

I've never tried to make a fashion statement - ever...

Combining Days Again, Day 103 and 104

My family got a case of needing to go to bed really early last evening, and I mean really early - like 9:03 both kids came into my office and kissed me good night, and my husband told me he was going up early too. As a result, I didn't feel like staying downstairs to edit my photo for yesterday's post nor did I want to bring the laptop up to bed since my husband turned in already. I was forced to wait until today.

Now I must play catch-up! And, it seems that I had yellow on the brain today...

The "flower" is a weed I saw growing on my neighbor's front lawn. The egg, well that is the creation of my daughter... Don't let it fool ya, that egg was really delish!

In Honor of Easter, Day 102

Freckles sang for us, a very fine song indeed!

I hope everyone had a wonderful and Blessed Easter and Passover! I ran a little "snow action" on this photo, very subtle but it helped to take away a bit of the fuzzy look to my out-of-focus shot.

Tie-Dye Eggs, Day 101

I grew up dyeing eggs a special way and I have now passed it down to my kids. We dyed our eggs early today as my daughter had to babysit tonight.

Kayaking In Summer, Day 100

Summertime remembered, a beautiful day kayaking in the bay off the Atlantic!

This Is Art, Day 99

Saw this on our drive and snapped a pic. I was surprised it wasn't all blurry so I decided to post. I've always been fascinated by graffiti and I've also always wondered if the artists get it right the first time with the paint or whether they do a light pencil sketch first...

Cheating A Bit, Day 98

Because I spent so much time working on a tutorial in Photoshop CS4, I decided to cheat a bit and post the photo here and on my regular blog - what can I say, I'm feeling a bit lazy today. However, I did take the photo and it is my daughter so I've granted myself special dispensation to kill two birds with one stone today.

Thank you for your understanding.

Not A Work Of Art, Day 97

My son's been complaining of his dresser not opening and closing properly and we have repaired it several times over the last couple of years. However, last weekend sealed the fate of this Ikea treasure. I think we waited a couple years too long...

We went out and purchased another Ikea dresser on Sunday to replace this broken one.

Daffodil, Up Close and Personal, Day 96

We had about 10,723 rain storms blow through today. I ran outside between storm #9998 and 9999 and shot a pic of my first daffodil of the season. I don't have a macro lens so I used my 75-300 mm zoom lens.

Freshly Photographed Moon, Day 95

I just shot the moon within the last half-hour using the monopod I got for Christmas! I never tire of photographing it, at least not yet.

Me And My Shadow, Day 92

I've always wanted to be a bit taller and for a few minutes one evening, as the sun set, I was!

Philadelphia Through The Moon Roof, Day 91

I shot this photo through the moon roof on our car. The only editing I did to it was adding my watermark. The towers are Liberty 1 and Liberty 2 Place - I always get them confused so I'm not sure which is which.
