This Is Art, Day 99

Saw this on our drive and snapped a pic. I was surprised it wasn't all blurry so I decided to post. I've always been fascinated by graffiti and I've also always wondered if the artists get it right the first time with the paint or whether they do a light pencil sketch first...

I too am interested and attracted by graffiti(not gang tags)I have a few photos of local stuff and saw one today that was a stencil of a soft serve Ice cream cone man, cute!
We had a bunch of spaceships on an old cement foundation early this year .
Our daughter actually saw a Banksy piece on a random wall in L.A.
And Dottie, I am informed that sometimes they DO get it right freehand (practice!) and often due to limited time a stencil is used and that is also for lots of repops all over an area. My blog header right now is a Banksy rat graffiti!

I think the thing that surprises me most about much grafitti is how the artists got to the places where they paint it - right out on the tops of buildings as well as next to railways.

Graffiti is interesting, also in the places you see it. On train cars are some of the best I've seen. Your pic turned out great!

Thanks for the additional info Janis! I have been amazed at some of the places I've seen the graffiti posted - the artist would have to have scaled a fence and hung upside down to get to some of his work surfaces, i.e. train overpasses. They must be passionate about their work because they certainly do risk life and limb to do it!
