We finally came to the conclusion yesterday that his being a stubborn beagle isn't what is keeping him from coming when called - Freckles no longer hears us.....
Aww, poor sweetheart. This is a beautiful pic of him.
The same is true of our oldest horse. If they are out in pasture and we ring the bell (grain time!), he doesn't hear it. And unless he is facing the other two horses to see them gallop off, then he stays out in pasture and potentially misses his grain. It makes me sad for him. :-(
I left a career as an insurance underwriter back in 1993 to stay at home with my kids and I have never once looked back. I've been fortunate to find a job that I can do from home and have done so for the last 16 years.
I am blessed with a great husband and two wonderful kids. Life doesn't get any better than that...well, throw in a beagle or two and it is a smidge better!
A love of our faith is #1 in our home and always will be.

Sorry to hear that. He's such a sweet dog.
What a sweet capture of your dear Freckles. Signs of aging . . . and then they rely on us even more.
Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts. We miss our Kobe.

Poor Freckles...
I am so sorry Dot - but having had a deaf dog of my own, I can say that it's not likely to get in the way of happiness. :)
