Fun With Textures

These are a few photos I have taken over the last few months. Tonight I was experimenting with adding texture to them. I found a website called Graphicmania.net and they had FREE downloadable textures.

Any thoughts? Does it add anything? Detract anything? I liked the old feel to the lighthouse and the grunge feel to my son's photo in his Santa hat. Not as happy with the dog photo....

My favorite is the lighthouse also! I love textures....they add so much interest to a photo. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. Another one you might want to check out is... http://www.kimikreations.blogspot.com/ Make sure you subscribe to her blog, so you will get an email when she posts. Right now she is offering free downloads until christmas, but her downloads are only good for 24 hours, so you have to check her blog everyday. I absolutely love her blog!!!

I agree with you - the lighthouse picture and the one with your son in his Santa hat are the best - love these textures and the old feel most.

Which texture (from graphicmania) did you use in these two pictures?

How funny! I have started experimenting with textures as well. I found a bunch of free ones on flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/skeletalmess/sets/72157621160055703/). I just put some shots up on my blog.

I love the texture on the last shot. Makes it look like a painting.

I find that I have to reduce the texture in some area's of the photo to keep the focus where I want it.
